Case History – System for screwdriving self-feeding

OVERVIEW

A major packaging machinery manufacturer engaged us to develop a self-feeding screwdriving system to be integrated into an assembly process involving hard-to-reach screwdriving points.

AIMS

  • Certainty of tightening of all the screws;
  • Torque tightening, repeatable and traceable;
  • Reaching the screwdriving point in a difficult position;
  • Self-feeding screwto facilitate the screwing process.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT - SOLUTION

Creation of a workstation with complete equipment, including:

  • Feeder with vibrating belt 340 -BASIC customised on screws specifications for the Customer;
  • Screwdriver self-powered BASIC with drive by push;
  • Jaws of retaining screws customised to reach difficult spots;
  • System for screwing TORQUE IQ with gun, with transducer integrated, including a controller and screwdriver integrated into the BASIC handpiece (as above).

How does a self-feeding screwdriving system work? Link to video to see it in action.

RESULTS

  • Elimination of the time taken to tighten the screws by the operator;
  • Elimination of repetitive movements ;
  • Less reworking and less consumption of materials;
  • Flow constant without interruptions, greater repeatability and quality of assembly;
  • Traceability of tightening parameters;
  • Perfect integration with a highly customised process.
