Case History – Manual handling of loads with ergonomic manipulator M5

A major player in the audio-phonics sector contacted us to integrate an ergonomic solution into the manual handling of loads within its production process, aimed at supporting operators in the phases of picking up, positioning and securing heavy and delicate components.

• Reduce the physical effort required to move components weighing approximately 35 kg without the operator perceiving any load.
• Improve the accuracy and repeatability of the positioning of components during assembly, in particular the possibility of rotating the component from 0 to 180°.
• Reduce mental and physical fatigue associated with manual repetitive tasks.
• Optimise the sequence of operations with gripping and handling equipment that was intuitive and natural for the operator.
• Promote a environment of work more ergonomic and safe.

The solution adopted was the installation of an ergonomic 3arm® M5 Series manipulator, configured directly at the workstation in the audio-phonics assembly department:

• Operating range adapted adapted to requirements for movements fluid in absence of weight, in all directions.
• Customised arm configuration to cover the entire workspace, reducing unnecessary trajectories, consisting of:

• Support Column;
• Trolley with wheels for easy movement;
• Brakes;
• Handle for steering the entire system.

• Dedicated gripping equipment (automated gripper with sensors) for customer-specific components, enabling secure gripping, rotation and release.
